Shelby, Mory, Henry & Nora | An in-home session welcoming baby Nora

FAMILY/NEWBORN | in-home session

I was really excited for this in-home family & newborn session for Shelby and Mory, especially because it was my first time meeting their new baby, Nora! Watching their family grow over the years has been such a joy, and it was an honor to capture these special moments in their new home. Shelby was one of my very first friends growing up (we went to kindergarten together) and after I moved schools, we lost touch until reconnecting many years later in high school.

Nora was nearly four months old when we finally had our session, although we originally intended for it to be earlier. The reality is that kiddos (and us parents) get sick sometimes, and we had to reschedule several times. Truthfully, there isn’t an “ideal” time for newborn sessions in my eyes, especially since my style for these sessions is more lifestyle-oriented. Whether your new baby is one week old or four months old, there’s always so much worth documenting and capturing at every stage.

Their oldest, Henry, still wasn’t feeling great during our session, but we made sure he got plenty of breaks and snuggles in between shots, and lots of Super Simple Songs during shooting! Eventually, he took a nap while we focused on capturing some beautiful moments of just Shelby and Nora. She was so sweet and relaxed, which lead to some beautiful photos!
